Amanda's birthday, birds & swing-park

The last weekend, I spend in Suntaži at Amanda's place again, together with another german exchange student, Franka. On saturday was Amanda's 18th birthday, so we celebrated with her and her friends. On sunday, we helped moving the birds from the greenhouse to a cage (because they only give eggs if they live in a cage). After that we went to a swing-park. That's (surprise surprise) a place where everything is swinging.
I'll add some pictures of sunday, on some of them we might look a bit tired ;)

I hope you have a nice day! :)

3 months in Latvia

Yesterday 3 months ago, on the 26th of august, I did the craziest thing in my life and went on exchange to Latvia. One year away from home, away from my family, my friends and my school. One year in a country where my language isn't understood. Where they speak another language. In which I was only able to say "Sveiki!" when I arrived here.
I went away from home, but I found a new home. This country became my second home. I love Latvia. The people, the nature, the sound of the language, the traditions, Rīga.
It's different from Germany, and I love that it's different. I learned a lot about Germany and our german mentality while being abroad.
I don't regret coming here, I love it.
I'm already looking forward to see family and friends again, but until this day, I'll make the best out of the 7 months which I've got left. It's true, the longer you're on exchange, the faster time flies. I read a quote: "Bad news: time flies. Good news: you're the pilot." I really like this quote.

On the photo which I added you can see the first time I saw Latvia, the moment when our plane flew over the latvian coast on 26th of august.

2 weeks in my new hostfamily // update

Yesterday two weeks ago, I moved to my new hostfamily. And I'm totally happy that I did that.
They're all really nice, I'm getting along great with them. My latvian language skills improved since I'm here, we do things together, and I also enjoy just talking to them. I feel home here.
I got all my happiness and positive thinking back. ♡

What I learned from that:
If you feel like something is not making you happy, and it's not good for you - change it. Life is short, always choose happiness.

Amazing saturday

Today, together with my hostsister and two friends we went to the other side of the river Daugava. There, we visited an old military stronghold from sowjet times. No one really cares about this place, so it's pretty rundown. But that has a special charm. I really liked it there, also the weather was great and the sun was shining.
After that, we went to the sea to watch the sunset, but we missed it. But in the end, that was okay, the colors of the sky still were extremely beautiful. I really love the sea, so going there makes me very happy.
That was one of the best (satur)days of almost three months which I already spent in Latvia.
This is country is so beautiful in it's own way, I can just recommend you to come here, and explore it yourself.
I'm going to add some photos which I took today (I finally remembered to take my camera with me).

Have a great day!
